What we can do now to prepare for the year of the horse
Im so looking forward to what the Year of the Horse will bring starting 17th February but you maybe starting to feel the energy now. The Year of the Horse in the element of fire moves fast. That’s exciting, but it can also be overwhelming if you’re not ready for it. Preparation isn’t about controlling the year. It’s about clearing space so you can actually use the energy instead of fighting it.
Think of it like stretching before a long run. You don’t want to start stiff.
Clear unfinished business
Horse years don’t like loose ends. If you enter the year carrying old obligations, unresolved issues, or mental clutter, they’ll trip you up once things speed up.
Before the year really gets going, look at what you’ve been avoiding:
Conversations you keep putting off
Projects that are half-done
Decisions you’ve delayed for too long
You don’t have to fix everything, but you do need to be honest about what’s lingering. Closing loops now creates freedom later.
Simplify your commitments
The Horse needs room to move. If your life is overcrowded with obligations, you won’t be able to respond when opportunities appear.
This is a good time to ask:
What am I doing out of habit rather than intention?
What drains me more than it gives back?
Preparing for the year might mean saying no more often, reducing your workload, or stepping back from roles that no longer fit. Creating space for yourself creates new energy for you.
Get clear on direction, not details
You don’t need a five year plan to prepare for a Horse year. You just need a sense of direction.
Ask yourself:
What do I want more of this year?
What kind of life am I trying to build?
Focus on the big picture. Details can evolve, but direction keeps you moving forward. If you would like help around this my 21 Day Simple Program can help you.
Strengthen your body and routines
Horse energy is demanding. Preparing means making sure your body and daily habits can support a faster pace.

You’re not training for perfection. You’re building resilience.
Practice making decisions
Indecision slows everything down in a Horse year. One of the best ways to prepare is to get used to choosing and moving on.
Start small. Decide quicker. Stop revisiting choices once they’re made unless there’s a real reason. If you would like to grow and challenge yourself then my Spiritual Awareness Living a Life of Magic course could be what you are looking for.
Confidence grows through practice, not theory.
Build trust in yourself
At its core, preparing for the Year of the Horse is about self-trust. The year will ask you to move faster than usual. Trust your instincts and you’ll be in the right place at the right time.
Pay attention to what’s worked for you in the past. Notice where you’ve handled change well before. That’s your proof.
Preparation isn’t about predicting the year. It’s about meeting it purposefully, clearly, stay present and be ready to move when the moment comes.
